Frequently Asked Questions

The Australian Partner Visa allows you to live in Australia with your spouse or de facto partner who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. You must be in a genuine and continuing relationship, and the visa is granted in two stages: temporary first, then permanent residency approximately two years later.

Yes! Our experienced team can guide you through the entire partner visa process, from initial eligibility assessment to application lodgement and follow-up. We help ensure your application is complete and accurate, which can significantly reduce processing times and avoid costly mistakes.

You’ll need to provide evidence across four key areas: financial (joint accounts, shared expenses), social (photos, communication history, testimonials), household (shared living arrangements), and commitment (shared future plans). MYAC can help you compile a compelling evidence portfolio that demonstrates the genuine nature of your relationship.

Application costs include government fees, police checks, medical examinations, and document services. Processing times typically range from 14-24 months depending on whether you apply onshore or offshore. Working with MYAC ensures your application is decision-ready from the start, which can help avoid delays.

This depends on your current location. If you’re already in Australia on a valid visa, you can apply onshore and receive work rights while you wait. If you’re outside Australia, you’ll need to apply offshore. MYAC can assess your situation and recommend the best pathway for your circumstances.

De facto couples generally need 12 months of cohabitation before applying, though there are exceptions for registered relationships, couples with children, or compelling circumstances. Married couples don’t need to meet this requirement. MYAC can advise whether your relationship meets the requirements.

If your relationship breaks down, your application may be refused or cancelled. However, exceptions exist for couples with children together, cases of family violence, or other compassionate circumstances. MYAC can provide guidance on your options if you find yourself in this situation.

MYAC provides end-to-end support including initial consultation, document preparation, application lodgement, and ongoing liaison with the Department of Home Affairs. Our team makes your migration journey as smooth and stress-free as possible.
